Founded in 1993 by a group of young activists in the wake of the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Équiterre offers individuals, organizations and governments CONCRETE SOLUTIONS aimed at making Quebec a society where sustainable development and the social economy occupy a central place.
Équiterre places particular emphasis on the basic choices we all make in our daily lives. Food, transportation, lodging, gardening and consumption are all essential needs but in filling these needs, we can all make responsible choices and help change the world for the better, ONE STEP AT A TIME.
Through its consulting, awareness-raising and research projects, Équiterre intervenes at both the local, regional, national and international levels to promote legislation, policies an business practices that reflect the values of JUSTICE, SOLIDARITY and respect for the ENVIRONMENT.
