The mission of the Firehouse (Society for the Development of Arts and Humanities) is to advance the arts and humanities in the Greater Newburyport region by: -Fostering the growth and development of the individual artists and cultural organizations through its programs and services. -Stimulating understanding of and participation in the arts and humanities, and presenting, sponsoring and producing a broad range of cultural, educational and artistic programs.

Spectrum Laboratory empowers artists on the autism spectrum to create original works of film and music. AXIS Dance Company's mission is to create and perform high quality contemporary dance that is developed through the collaboration of dancers with and without disabilities. AXIS teaches dance and educates about collaboration and disability through community education and outreach programs. AXIS is committed to promoting and supporting this form of dance locally and abroad.

Newark Community Radio Inc is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) educational broadcast service. Our mission is: 1) To give the residents of greater Newark the opportunity to write, record, and broadcast stories about their lives, experiences, businesses, research, charities, organizations, events, and activities. 2) To promote science, technology, engineering, and math as fascinating fields of study and employment. 3) To develop the arts of broadcast journalism and storytelling.

The mission of the Michael J. Owen Music Education Fund is to foster a passion for music among elementary school students. Music education is often under-funded in today’s schools. In addition, teachers face the incredible challenge of having 30 minutes once a week to teach 10 to 12 students a variety of instruments. To ensure that students will enjoy learning and make better progress, MJOMEF hires professional musicians as teaching assistants in the classroom to provide one-on-one coaching. This coaching helps students who need a little extra attention as well as students making rapid progress. This enables the teacher to continue with the rest of the class in an uninterrupted manner. MJOMEF also provides musical instruments and books for students who are financially unable to purchase these items. This year 185 students in 7 schools are benefitting from our support.
