Our mission is to connect the rich literary traditions and resources of Greater Boston, building relationships among its artists and authors, by empowering, enabling, and amplifying the voices of unheard and underserved populations through free collaborative workshops, public readings, literary journals, video publications, and public exhibits that showcase their work and encourage personal reflection and re-vision, by both author and audience, while sharing their stories with the world. Our workshops are intended to expand access to literary arts for everyone, including those marginalized, stigmatized, or isolated by the challenges of addiction recovery, disability, trauma, sickness, injury, poverty, and mental illness.

Using the arts to change lives through quality urban entertainment, life changing ministry & relevant educational programming. In a time when our arts educational system is under attack; where budgets are being minced; and administrators, teachers, and programs are being eliminated as a means to mitigate financial shortfalls, CBG Arts remains committed to providing the community with educational experiences in the arts. We are fulfilling our promises to the youth and future leaders of our community by providing them with rich and rewarding learning opportunities. Our performing arts workshops are taught by trained teaching artists who share the same commitment to inspire an appreciation for the arts and create a realm where each student can grow into the leaders they have been called to be. This means that the arts are not just a mere recreational activity but something that helps them find their voice and their purpose. Something that turns a group of students into a gang who uses the arts as their “weapons of warfare”.

Purple is a feminist umbrella organization for activities and initiatives that promote lesbian and womyn’s community. We are focused particularly on the Lansing, Michigan area but open to wider participation. We adopt appropriate projects proposed and primarily staffed by others as projects of Purple Inc., consulting with and advising the organizers, and extending to the projects the benefits of our tax-deductible non-profit status and the use of our resources. In this way we foster activities that immediately benefit lesbian/womyn’s community and serve as an incubator for promising initiatives that need a boost to start up but may grow and develop into independent entities.
