The Democracy Education Network (DEN) coordinates educational programs that teach Canadians how to be effective advocates for their concerns as participants in government and big business decision-making processes. DEN is a registered research and education charity incorporated federally in September 1993 (Charitable Registration Number 88604 4999 RR 0001). DEN also teaches governments how to engage Canadians in meaningful and respectful ways when making decisions or policy changes. DEN is non-partisan and supported by donations from Canadians and grants from foundations.

Newfoundland and Labrador Laubach Literacy Council Inc. is a registered, volunteer charitable organization that aids in the development of Laubach Literacy Councils in the province. We provide free, confidential tutoring to adults in reading, writing and numeracy skills. Training is provided to tutors in keeping with Laubach standards. FRASER BASIN COUNCIL SOCIETY

Established in 1997, the Fraser Basin Council (FBC) is a non-profit, charitable society that advances sustainability in the communities of the Fraser River Basin and beyond. FBC is led by 36 directors from the four orders of government (federal, provincial, local and First Nations) and from the private sector and civil society. FBC helps others work together on solutions to sustainability issues and conflicts. Over the past 10 years, the Council has helped facilitate multiple collaborative processes and, with its partners, has tackled a diversity of sustainability initiatives. These include programs on flood hazard and debris management, aboriginal and non-aboriginal relations, strengthening communities, climate change action, greening of BC fleets, healthy watersheds, sustainable fisheries, control of invasive plants, sustainability reporting and education.

THE VALLEY ZOO DEVELOPMENT SOCIETY

The Edmonton Valley Zoo Revitalization Project has already begun with Phase I: a new Arctic Shores Exhibit opened in 2012 and Phase II: a new Entry Plaza and Wander currently under construction this year. “Nature’s Wild Backyard” will be Phase III of the revitalization and the Valley Zoo Development Society has committed to raising $9 million dollars for this Phase of construction that is likely to cost over $30 million dollars. The newly revitalized zoo will be a world-class facility and a leader in education and conservation.“Nature’s Wild Backyard” will be a place where the zoo’s youngest guests will have the opportunity to get up close and personal to experience the delight of watching, interacting and bonding with animals. Focused on learning through play, “NWB" will feature a make-believe veterinary hospital and underground tunnels that will allow guests to come face to face with prairie dogs and meerkats in their natural underground habitat.

Based in Toronto, with contributors from around the world, C keeps contemporary art professionals and enthusiasts informed of significant ideas and trends in art and culture. C's publishing history is over 20 years strong, having published the first edition in 1984. Our long-term stability is dependent on the tremendous work of our volunteer board of directors, community volunteers and dedicated staff. We rely on the donations of those that support contemporary art and appreciate the need for journalistic diversity in the arts community. Since its inception, Toronto Public Library Foundation has raised over $55 million in support of Toronto Public Library priority needs. DELKATLA SANCTUARY SOCIETY

Our Nature Centre is the only one in the Skeena Region and is run entirely by volunteers. We keep regular summer hours and welcome schools, visitors and residents to the Centre. We also host art shows and displays and speak at public hearings on matters related to the protection of habitat.
