Founded in 1929, The John Howard Society of the Lower Mainland is a well-established and highly reputable agency promoting community safety by supporting persons involved with, or at risk of being impacted by, the criminal justice system. Although our traditional client base is those persons who are in conflict with the law, we have developed an expertise in supporting persons with complex needs facing multiple barriers or who are considered hard to house. Our services include operating a spectrum of housing options under contract with the CSC, with Community Living British Columbia, or operated by the Society. We support clients in a number of areas including providing and assisting with finding housing; support with anger management; addiction, mental illness, and developmental disabilities, assistance with reintegration and with learning how to be responsible for themselves.

In partnership with educators and volunteers, Junior Achievement brings the real world to students, opening their minds to their potential, serving nearly 70,000 students in Central Ontario in 2008-2009 alone.
