RAVEN (RESPECTING ABORIGINAL VALUES AND ENVIRONMENTAL NEEDS)

RAVEN is a non-profit charitable organization that provides financial resources to assist First Nations within Canada in lawfully forcing industrial development to be reconciled with their traditional ways of life, and in a manner that addresses global warming or other ecological sustainability challenges. We are based in Victoria, BC, and have board members from across the country representing our cause. RAVEN is the ONLY organization in Canada doing this work. We are unique in the Canadian landscape, and we have a direct impact on the litigation processes of these important cases. Passionate, dedicated and committed to social change describes the attitude of our board members, staff and volunteers. This is a lean, efficient and hard-working organization that will stretch itself to achieve the goals it set towards realizing their vision for a country that embraces the caretaker values of First Nations and their equitable access to the justice system within a thriving natural habitat.

Bragg Creek Trails

The GBCTA has three main program initiatives. The organization has successfully built two trails around the hamlet of Bragg Creek, and is pursuing the development of a trail connecting the hamlet to west Bragg Creek Kananaskis Country. In addition, the association is developing and maintaining summer and winter hiking, biking, snowshoeing and ski trails at west Bragg Creek. In addition to funding from private donations, the association also pursues corporate and foundation financing to build and maintain trails. The Association's volunteer activities have contributed to an improved visitor experience to the Bragg Creek area, generating economic activity for local business, while encouraging safe and healthy lifestyle opportunities. The development of an All-Season Trail network in west Bragg Creek will improve the recreational and tourism options for the businesses in the Hamlet.
