GaLTT has a multi-year plan to establish a continuous system of public trails from one end of the island to the other between Descanso Bay and Drumbeg Provincial Park. We're very close to our goal now but negotiations with private landowners and government bodies are in progress, and we hope to achieve our goal SOON. Gabriola Land & Trails Trust (GaLTT) is successfully achieving objectives as shown by the strategic plan on our website. This past year (2012) has been productive. We have implemented numerous trail licences to provide public access across private lands. Licensed trails are one of the ways used to provide trail linkages in our community. Many trails and shore accesses are provided on undeveloped road allowances. Protection of island ecosystems is enhanced through securing conservation covenants (easements), and through advocacy in favour of parks and conservation. We have established land acquisition fund for the future purchase of lands.

In short - We help people help people!
The Young Naturalists’ Club is a network of family and school nature clubs led by dedicated volunteers who are passionate about nature. The program is designed for young people, aged 5 - 12, who care about nature in this beautiful province of British Columbia. We get young people and their families outside and excited about nature. Children are spending less time outdoors which is affecting not only their connection to the natural world but their ability to learn, their social development and their health. We discover nearby nature through our family field trips (Explorer Days), individual initiatives (Action Awards) and our quarterly publication (NatureWILD), the only children's magazine that focuses on BC nature and environment.

This is a lean, efficient and hard-working organization that will stretch itself to achieve the goals it set towards realizing their vision for a country that embraces the caretaker values of First Nations and their equitable access to the justice system within a thriving natural habitat.
The GBCTA has three main program initiatives. The organization has successfully built two trails around the hamlet of Bragg Creek, and is pursuing the development of a trail connecting the hamlet to west Bragg Creek Kananaskis Country. In addition, the association is developing and maintaining summer and winter hiking, biking, snowshoeing and ski trails at west Bragg Creek. In addition to funding from private donations, the association also pursues corporate and foundation financing to build and maintain trails.
