Since 1993, we have helped protect over 11,000 acres of special natural lands in central Ontario; north Simcoe County and Carden Township, City of Kawartha Lakes. Properties and conservation easements have been donated to us by individuals with a great love for nature. We also manage properties owned by the Nature Conservancy of Canada and the Ontario Heritage Foundation. Our goal is to protect natural lands by: • accepting donations of significant lands to manage as nature reserves • entering into conservation easements with willing owners to legally restrict future development • working cooperatively with other organizations to acquire or manage ecological lands • engaging private landowners and volunteers in positive conservation actions • increasing local knowledge and awareness about natural heritage conservation

Hospice of Waterloo Region serves all ages and assists clients with any terminal illness. The compassionate and practical support offered by our staff and volunteers extends to all family members. Each client/volunteer relationship is unique and is determined by the particular needs of the individual. Volunteers provide respite care and enrich people’s lives by sharing their gifts of listening, caring, friendship, love, humour, and support. Hospice of Waterloo Region hosts programs and provides services at no charge to individuals and families. No one need die alone. We offer companionship to live in dignity and comfort.

Daytrippers is a registered charity led by a volunteer group of young professionals dedicated to giving back to the community. Daytrippers-sponsored trips are often the only vehicle through which underprivileged children can explore the world beyond their neighbourhoods and gain new perspectives on the world. Thanks to funds raised by Daytrippers, inner-city children have visited conservation areas, gone camping, and walked through a forest for the first time. And children from rural areas have visited Parliament in Ottawa, the Royal Ontario Museum, and many other cultural institutions that are inaccessible in their home environment. We cannot run these trips without your help. With your donation, everybody wins: STUDENTS get an educational and fun experience that they will remember for a lifetime, TEACHERS get to take their classes to a whole new learning environment like nothing they can offer in school, and YOU get to make a difference - and get a tax receipt.

Since 1997 the support of Canadian Whale Institute (CWI) has been primarily directed towards efforts to save the highly endangered North Atlantic right whale. These include reducing right whale mortality from ship-strikes, entanglement in fishing gear and raising public awareness. CWI Current Initiatives ‘Helping to save one species from the brink of extinction can very well help humankind preserve our planet’ Stewardship and Conservation Despite international protection from whaling since 1935 the North Atlantic right whale is hovering on the brink of extinction: about 350 remain. CWI supports many research projects and stewardship measures taking place throughout the Canadian range of the species. Researchers who receive CWI support have contributed to the development of the Canadian recovery plan and the relocation of the Bay of Fundy shipping lanes; thereby helping to reduce the number of whales dying due to ship-strikes. Earth Rangers is a registered charity which educates children about the importance of biodiversity and inspires them to adopt more sustainable practices to protect endangered habitats and species. Earth Ranger’s operates in schools and communities across Ontario, and through a permanent studio at the Royal Ontario Museum. Our programs have been doubling in size every year, and in 2009, will expect to reach 350,000 children and their families. Launched in May 2009, earthrangers.com is Canada’s largest online community of environmentally minded children. With the help of environmentally themed information and eco-feat projects, children are able to interact with their friends and make a real difference. In 2010, Earth Rangers will launch the “Bring Back the Wild” program, an individual fundraising program in which children will raise money to protect endangered habitats across the country.

The Black Watch of Canada Foundation was officially established August 13, 1996. The primary role of the Foundation is to assist the Commanding Officer in reaching the community in which the Regiment is located, so as to serve it better.

Established in 1977 as the Unified Service project of the Ontario District Association of Chapters of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America, Inc. and administered by a seven man Board of Trustees elected by the House of Delegates of the Ontario District Association of Chapters of the Barbershop Harmony Society.

This organization mobilizes chefs on three levels: the redistribution of food surpluses, the preparation of ready-to-eat meals to profit Quebec food banks, and the transfer of culinary and nutritional knowledge to underprivileged youth so as to break the cycle of poverty and develop culinary independence.

Salthaven Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Centre located in Mount Brydges, Ontario is actively involved in serving Canadians providing both wild animal care and public education. Over 850 animals and birds are admitted annually including Bald Eagles, Chimney Swifts, Eastern Fox Snakes and Peregrine Falcons all presently listed as an Animal of Special Concern as outlined by the Ministry of Natural Resources Species at Risk in Ontario (SARO) List. Salthaven is licensed by the Canadian Wildlife Service and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources (OMNR). It is a challenge to meet the costs of food, housing, medical supplies and veterinary services each year. Efforts are ongoing to raise funds to accomodate over 4000 calls for help every year. Although licensed by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, the centre relies on a team of 100 volunteers, donations and philanthropy to provide care for sick, injured or orphaned wildlife.

MusicBox recognizes the importance of a musical education in a child's development. Music has the capacity to transcend language, social and cultural borders and positively influence other areas of a child's development. MusicBox's music appreciation and individual-lesson programs run in low-income neighbourhoods in Canada, and in other institutions where children are disadvantaged, disabled, ill and therefore unable to partake in a music education. Any interested children of families in these sectors are qualified candidates for the MusicBox Children’s Charity. MusicBox also strives to provide a mentorship program between our volunteer teachers and our child partipants. We provide volunteer opportunities for high school and university students making this a youth-helping-youth initiative, and giving our youth confidence and responsibility. Our programs are administered by a national Board of Directors and regional Chapters run entirely by volunteers.

Halton Learning Foundation's objective is to raise charitable funds to remove economic barriers to learning for students in need and support school initiatives. As each has its own community, students and families, fundraising revenues generated within a school varies from school to school. In a number of communities, school council/parents are unable to raise any significant amount of money to help with additional purchases above and beyond core education funding. Funds raised by the Halton Learning Foundation are available to help schools that need additional assistance. Funds raised by the Foundation are directed to eliminating barriers to learning for students and classroom enrichment; not to administration or capital projects. The Halton Learning Foundation is incorporated as a registered charity and as an independent body collaborating with the Halton District School Board. The Halton District School Board has over 50,000 students and 95 schools in Halton Region.
