The Trustee For Creating Chances Trust

Chances to inspire, develop and empower young people to believe in themselves so they contribute positively to society and create positive change in the world. This is achieved through the delivery of a range of training and mentoring programs which ultimately enable the youth to design and deliver their own community projects and role modelling initiatives. Our key offering is the Creating Chances Youth Development Pathway, which was inspired by years of delivery experience and informed by rigorous research. The Pathway offers a structured and progressive program, based on sports participation and sports activities, that is designed to build resilient, confident, capable and future-ready young people who are active citizens in their communities and feel empowered as leaders. The Creating Chances Youth Development Pathway offers a structured and progressive program that is designed to build confident, capable and future-ready young people. Beyond our structured Pathway programs, we deliver community sports programs including Football United, Pacific Waves and Rugby, Tackle Life and work with partners to develop and deliver youth-focused events and festivals (such as Festival 23 and World Traditional Games). Creating Chances was developed from a partnership between Football United and Rugby Youth Foundation, and Football United programs remain an enduring part of Creating Chances. Our team has developed a solid reputation for collaboration with young people in metro, regional and remote communities and we are a trusted provider of sport for good programs with a measurable impact. Creating Chances and Football United run successful projects in partnership with over 100 schools and youth-focused community organisations across NSW. Reach also extends into Victoria and internationally where our teams work with partner organisations including Common Goal.

We are a certified social enterprise focusing on partnerships with industries to generate social and economic values for migrant, refugee and asylum seeker women in Australia. INTERSECTIONALITY AND SISTERWORKS' EXPERIENCE Migrant, refugee and asylum seeking women represent some of the most vulnerable and marginalised people in Victoria. Many women within this community tend to suffer from low-levels of English, limited work experience, low confidence, isolation and domestic violence. These issues affect their overall economic and social participation within the broader community and thus, there is a need to address both the confidence and financial wellbeing of these disadvantaged women. BY WOMEN FOR WOMEN SisterWorks is a female-led and diverse workforce. All staff members identify as female including all senior staff. In addition, 76% of our staff and 60% volunteers have lived experience as a refugee or migrant woman. SisterWorks is a grass-roots organisation, our programs are developed, run and received by CALD women. Through an intersectional, person-centred and holistic focus, we understand the support needed by our target cohort and the diversity in their individual needs. To further this, our focus groups centering on the woman's long-term and immediate goals ensures the adaptability, sustainability and suitability of programs. WFD has a consultative status in the United Nations and is a founding member of International Disability Alliance (IDA). At its recent World Congress in Jeju, South Korea, WFD members (136) approved the WFD strategic direction 2023-2030 and Action Plan 2023-2027. Important themes are covered in these 2 documents which strive to ensure that we create access for all deaf people to all ways of life in "a world where deaf people everywhere can sign anywhere" (vision). Furthermore, our mission is to work towards the full realisation of linguistic rights and human rights in all areas of life, with full recognition and implementation of these rights across local, national and international levels. To realise our mission and vision, the following are part of our Action Plan 2023-2027: Building Capacity across the Globe: ensuring increased participation of women, youth and underrepresented communities; provide effective capacity building projects to countries who are not yet members to assist them with creating their own national deaf associations so that they can represent themselves in their countries; Putting Deaf people on the Agenda: the WFD will continue to strive to put deaf human rights at the forefront of all representation internationally, including at the UN; we will effectively promote International Week of Deaf people and be ready to response to deaf people's needs in times of crises, disasters and war. Realising nothing about us without us: the WFD continues to be the leading authority for deaf people and sign languages and has committed to developing resources to assist deaf people raise awareness in their countries. Achieving Sign Language Rights for all: National sign languages are fundamental to achieving deaf people's human rights. We will aim to assist our member states in promoting the legal recognition of signed language in the country and advocate for early childhood language acquisition and inclusive multilingual education policies. Investing in a strong and sustainable organisation: to carry out our mission and vision we need greater investment in our secretariat and regional secretariat, expand our donor base, increase visibility and fundraising activities so that our organisation can carry on its important global work.
