CPAWS is Canada's pre-eminent, non-profit wilderness protection organization. With a network of 13 chapters, 20,000 members, over 50 staff and hundreds of committed volunteers, since 1963 CPAWS has helped to conserve over 400,000 square kilometers of Canada's most treasured wild places in parks and other protected areas- an area nearly seven times the size of Nova Scotia!

Scouting has an important role in the lives of today’s youth. Scouting promotes the importance of values such as integrity, honesty, responsibility, patriotism, courtesy, perseverance, cooperation, tolerance, teamwork, leadership and respect for community, nature and spirituality. In the 2008-2009 Scouting year, for the first time in a quarter of a century, membership in Scouting across Canada has increased. We are working hard so that more youth have the opportunity to benefit from a Scouting experience. As the organization grows, more and more youth in need of financial assistance are identified.

The Lung Association, Manitoba is a member of the Canadian Lung Association, which has been working to improve the lung health of Canadians for over 100 years. We are a non-profit, registered health organization that relies on donations from the public to fund our activities. We are the premier source of lung health information and initiatives in Manitoba. Our efforts are focused on lung disease education & management, tobacco cessation & prevention, improved air quality & environment, tuberculosis and occupational health services. The Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton is launching a fundraising campaign to better serve the city's growing number of sexual assault survivors. We currently provide individual and group counselling services to child and adult survivors of sexual abuse and sexual assault at no cost to clients. We also do community outreach and education, staff a 24 hour crisis line and provide specialized treatment services for new Canadians who have experienced war rape in their country of origin. The online campaign asks for donations in exchange for sending a “candle of hope” to a friend. We appreciate your support. Light a candle in the darkness. Dare to be aware.

Indspire (the former National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation) is a registered national charity that provides the necessary tools for Indigenous peoples, especially youth to achieve their potential. Our focus is on supporting, innovating, and fundamentally transforming Indigenous education. To date, Indspire’s Building Brighter Futures: Bursaries and Scholarship Awards program has awarded over $49-million in bursaries and scholarships to over 14,000 First Nation, Inuit and Métis students nationwide. Our other programs, Soaring: Indigenous Youth Career Conferences and Industry in the Classroom: Indigenous Youth Career Seminars, focus on introducing students to potential careers and opportunities. Each year we recognize 14 outstanding Indigenous achievers at the Indspire Awards. This nationally televised gala provides role models for Indigenous youth and celebrates the rich contributions First Nation, Inuit and Métis people have made to their communities and Canada.

Since 1984, Environmental Defence has been inspiring change by connecting people with environmental issues that affect their daily lives in their homes, workplaces and neighbourhoods.

The Huntsman has been an active steward of the ocean resource by finding ways to educate citizens about the oceans for the past 40 years. The education programs of the Huntsman have been pioneering; knowledge-based activities that have influenced the development of highly qualified personnel in the marine sciences and the oceans industry sector of the Canadian economy. The hands-on school programs have engaged over 35,000 students - ranging from elementary school age to university graduate level. For many, it is their first introduction to the Canadian Atlantic region.

The Nalanda Translation Committee creates fresh and authentic translations of Tibetan practice texts and commentaries in English and other Western languages; translates from a variety of other genres of Tibetan Buddhist literature, including biographies, songs of realization, philosophy, and culture; publishes those texts to ensure quality and consistency; teaches and transmits practices, to increase students' understanding of their significance and cultural background; and helps with the presentation of Buddhist and Shambhala ceremonies and practices.

Burnaby Hospital Foundation raises funds to support the medical equipment needs of Burnaby Hospital. Burnaby Hospital is a 300 bed, community based, acute care hospital caring for over 230,000 people every year. Our Emergency department is one of the busiest in the Province of BC and treats over 45,000 adults and 12,000 children annually.

To provide dynamic leadership for implementing what we see as universal values founded on fundamental Islamic values by contributing to the alleviation of poverty and securing better socio-economic life for the disadvantaged groups through empowering them to depend on themselves and participate in the decisions concerning their own problems. These values are echoed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other United Nations human rights instruments. The freedoms and responsibilities inherent in them lead directly to tolerance, pluralism, gender equality, public dialogue and non-violence to settle disputes, respect for all people regardless of differing characteristics – all part of what we call “Canadian values”.
