The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada was established in 1955 to fund Canadian researchers who focus on leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, and Hodgkin's disease. Over the years we have funded hundreds of prominent researchers who have made significant progress in developing better, less invasive treatments in their quest to find permanent cures. Research has dramatically increased the survival rates of people stricken with blood-related cancers. Yet leukemia remains the number one disease-killer of children under 19 and alarmingly the incidence of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in adults has doubled since 1973. Our mission to find better treatments and ultimately cures, continues.

Nestled in a peaceful setting near Riley Park in northwest Calgary is The Salvation Army Agapè Hospice. It is a home away from home for the terminally ill, offering people a place where they can die with dignity. It is also a place that echoes with the hope of life. Compassionate and professional care is the backbone of the hospice. The philosophy: caregiving is most effective when residents, health professionals, volunteers, and family work as a team. Teamwork is what makes Agapé special. Since The Salvation Army opened the hospice in 1992, thousands of individuals, including families and friends, have benefited from the nursing and spiritual care, family support, pain management, and bereavement services that Agapé Hospice offers.

The Hospital for Sick Children Foundation, affectionately known as SickKids Foundation, is the largest non-governmental granting agency in child health in Canada. Established in 1972, SickKids Foundation has granted over $300 million to The Hospital for Sick Children and over $60 million to researchers across the country. Through its National Grants Program, SickKids Foundation is the only granting program with a national, multi-year initiative to study two understudied but important areas of child health: the role of complementary and alternative health care and child health, and to study home care and children and youth. We have invested our community’s contributions in outstanding patient care, research and education. We believe there is no one else in Canada as dedicated as we are to eliminating the gap between what is happening in child health research, education and training, and what should be happening.

The Ottawa Food Bank supplies 138 emergency food programs, bringing hope to people who need it most. Dozens of organizations such as The Shepherds of Good Hope, The Ottawa Mission and the Salvation Army rely heavily on The Ottawa Food Bank, as do school meal programs, shelters and neighbourhood grocery programs throughout the National Capital Region. The Food Bank depends upon the generosity of donors like you to make this work possible.

Parkinson Alberta Society provides support through one-on-one and group counselling, peer counselling and educational workshops. Information is provided on health and lifestyles (including physiotherapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy) through support groups, newsletters, a resource library and an informative web site. We are Canadians who want to reduce suicide and its impact in Canada. We represent experts and volunteers, school and community suicide prevention initiatives, mental health workers, researchers, crisis centres and families who have been impacted by suicide. We are survivors of loss. Among us, we have lost children, parents, family members, neighbours, friends, patients and clients. So have most of you. We want to end the silence. We want to ease the suffering, to heal our communities and our neighbours, as we have healed ourselves. We want to prevent others from experiencing such pain and such loss.

BC Children's Hospital Foundation raises money to support excellence and innovation in care, treatment and research and BC Children's Hospital, Sunny Hill Health Centre for Children and the Child & Family Research Institute. The Foundation's activities include major gift fundraising, planned giving and a wide variety of annual programs. As steward of philanthropic donations to Children's Hospital, Sunny Hill Health Centre and the Child & Family Research Institute, the Foundation issues charitable receipts and ensures donations are allocated to the areas to which donors have designated their support. The Foundation is currently engaged in the $200-million Campaign for BC Children to build a new children's hospital and ensure all BC children have access to a consistent standard of pediatric care.

For more than 30 years Ronald McDonald House Toronto has been fulfilling its mission to provide a “home away from home” for seriously ill children and their families to heal better together. Ronald McDonald House Toronto offers a place for sleeping, schooling, working, cooking and playing. It also provides vital therapeutic programs that help sick children, their siblings and their parents get to a better place emotionally. More recently, Ronald McDonald House Toronto has expanded its mission to include the in-hospital Family Room Program.

Children's Health Foundation is the charitable fundraising resource for Children's Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre,Children's Health Research Institute and Thames Valley Children's Centre Children's Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre is the designated referral centre for specialized medical care for children in the region and the paediatric teaching hospital of the University of Western Ontario. Children's Health Research Institute, at Lawson Health Research Institute, is the research arm of Children's Hospital of Western Ontario. Thames Valley Children's Centre is a regional rehabilitation centre for children and young adults with physical disabilities, communication disorders.

The Children's Hosptial of Eastern Ontario Foundation raises funds for CHEO (Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario) by soliciting donations, receiving planned gifts, bequests and grants and by organizing special events and lotteries.

Hospice Calgary embraces children, teens and adults who are coping with life-threatening illness, sudden or expected death. At Sage Centre and Rosedale Hospice - our two centres of care - our specialists provide: 1) individual counselling 2) group support 3) workshops 4) 24-hour end-of-life care. Hospice Care Ottawa, an amalgamation of Friends of Hospice Ottawa and the Hospice at May Court, is a community based charitable organization. We offer services for clients and their loved ones to experience palliative and end-of-life care in a supportive and peaceful setting, surrounded by caring that reflects as closely as possible a comfortable home environment.
