ASIAN COMMUNITY AIDS SERVICES

We provide practical and emotional support to Asians living with HIV/AIDS (PHA), their partners, families and friends; develop and maintain PHA wellness and treatment information in Asian languages; provides HIV/AIDS & healthy sexuality educational workshops, peer support, anonymous HIV/AIDS counselling, community education and AIDS awareness activtities; conduct regular volunteer training programs and skills development activities. Services in English and Asian languages including Chinese, Filipino and Vietnamese. All services at ACAS are confidential and free.

British Columbia Schizophrenia Society Foundation

The charitable purpose of the Mind Foundation of BC is to raise funds for the programs and services offered by the BC Schizophrenia Society (BCSS), in addition to funding schizophrenia research. The British Columbia Schizophrenia Society (BCSS) is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1982 by families and friends of people with schizophrenia. Since then, BCSS has grown into a province-wide family support system with 28 Branches, 12 Regional Coordinators, 3 Program Coordinators, 6 Provincial Staff, and close to 1000 members who are dedicated to supporting each other, educating the public, raising funds for research, and advocating for better services for people with schizophrenia and other serious and persistent mental illness.

SAUGEEN MEMORIAL HOSPITAL FOUNDATION

The Foundation was formed during the reorganization of health services in Grey-Bruce to ensure that funds received are used exclusively for the benefit of the Southampton Hospital. Since its inception in 1998, the Foundation, through generous gifts from the community has helped raise over $7.2 Million dollars to March 31, 2013. The Southampton site provides health care close to home for approximately 20,000 people from the surrounding communities of Saugeen Shores including Southampton, Port Elgin, Tara, Arran Township, Saugeen First Nations, Amabel Township, Bruce Township and Saugeen Township. The Alzheimer Society of Kenora/Rainy River Districts provides support, information and education to people with Alzheimer Disease, families, physicians and health care providers. The Society provides in-home educational sessions, community based support group structures, educational workshops and a resource library. Many volunteers who support the work of the Society may be involved in fundraising events, office support, volunteer visiting and public awareness activities.

If you have been diagnosed with prostate cancer, you are not alone. We would like to help you. We offer: Telephone contact so that we may be able to help with your first confrontation with diagnosis and treatment questions. We do NOT provide medical advice. Mentoring sessions for newly diagnosed patients where discussion takes place with other prostate cancer survivors. Information kits are distributed. Monthly meetings where you can obtain information, attend presentations on prostate cancer topics, and meet with other prostate cancer patients/survivors. Matching of patients so that you can share, hear first hand experiences, and form your own personal support group. A monthly newsletter that describes the Association's activities, events, and reports on interesting medical news.

SUNRISE PREGNANCY AND FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES

Sunrise provides a variety of services including information and resources for crisis pregnancy support, post abortion support and family support,’ We also offer an annual Weekend Retreat for the moms, assist our clients in completing their High school education. Our involvement with these clients is not a one time occurrence, rather it is a long term commitment ( often over the course of several years). The Foundation is largely volunteer driven with a Board of Directors. The Foundation raises funds to purchase equipment for the Hospital by hosting events and through the generous support of donors. Our largest event is the Annual Friends of the Foundation Golf Tournament in June. We are happy to answer any questions you may have about our organization.

DAVE SMITH YOUTH TREATMENT CENTRE

The Dave Smith Youth Treatment Centre (DSYTC) came into being, as a result of the efforts of a group of dedicated parents and community leaders, spearheaded by restaurateur and philanthropist Dave Smith. This committed group lobbied tirelessly to secure base operational funding support from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care as well as raise capital funds from the community in order to purchase a building. With minimal fanfare, enthusiastic staff, and high hopes, the DSYTC first opened its doors in March 1993. The Centre began providing assistance to some 120 youth and parents in year one, and today, with much creativity and commitment assists more than 700 people per year.

CDHF - Canadian Digestive Health Foundation

Over 20 million Canadians suffer from digestive disorders every year. We believes this is unnecessary and unacceptable. The CDHF reduces suffering and improvs quality of life by empowering Canadians with trusted, up to date, science-based information about digestive health and disease. We are the Foundation of the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology (CAG). As such, we work directly with leading physicians, scientists, and other healthcare professionals to help Canadians understand and take control of their digestive health with confidence and optimism. Through research and public education, we aim to: REDUCE the incidence and prevalence of digestive disorders; IMPROVE understanding of digestive health issues; SUPPORT those suffering from digestive disorders; and, ENHANCE quality of life for those living with digestive disorders.
