Shriners Hospitals for Children — Boston is a highly specialized pediatric surgical care center located in the heart of the city. It is considered one of the world’s preeminent hospitals in the treatment of children with severe burn injuries, complex skin conditions, and cleft lip and palate. Affiliated with Massachusetts General Hospital and verified by a joint program of the American Burn Association and the American College of Surgeons, Shriners Hospitals for Children — Boston meets all of the demanding standards for organizational structure, personnel qualifications, facilities resources and medical care services to ensure the best possible outcomes. Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) is changing the lives of children with cancer by funding impactful research, raising awareness, supporting families and empowering everyone to help cure childhood cancer. When Alex, who was diagnosed with childhood cancer just before her first birthday, was 4, she told her parents she wanted to set up a front yard lemonade stand. Her plan: to give the money to doctors to help them find a cure. Her first “Alex’s Lemonade Stand,” held with the help of her older brother Patrick, raised an astonishing $2,000 in one day. While bravely fighting her own cancer, Alex continued to set up lemonade stands every year. As news spread of the remarkable girl so dedicated to helping other sick children, people everywhere were inspired to start their own lemonade stands — donating the proceeds to her cause. In 2004 when Alex passed away at the age of 8 — her stand and inspiration had raised more than $1 million towards finding a cure for the disease that took her life. Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) was started by her parents in 2005 to continue the work that Alex began. Our mission is simple: to change the lives of children with cancer through funding impactful research, raising awareness, supporting families and empowering everyone to help cure childhood cancer. Since Alex set up her first lemonade stand in 2000 — truly exemplifying the saying “When life hands you lemons, make lemonade” — we have raised more than $250 million. That money has helped to: - Fund more than 1,000 cutting-edge research projects at nearly 150 institutions. - Create a Travel For Care program to help support families of children receiving treatment and develop resources, such as our SuperSibs program to help people everywhere affected by childhood cancer. Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is the living embodiment of Alex’s spirit of determination and hope. Like Alex, we believe that every person can make a difference. The mission of the Hydrocephalus Association is to promote a cure for hydrocephalus and improve the lives of those affected by the condition. Project C.U.R.E. was founded in 1987 to help bridge staggering health resource gaps in the developing world by matching medical supplies and modern equipment with facilities in need to empower doctors and nurses with the tools they need to treat disease, deliver vaccines, perform life-changing surgeries and ensure safe childbirth. Project C.U.R.E. operates distribution centers in Colorado, Tennessee, Texas and Arizona and receives donations of supplies and specialized equipment from hundreds of U.S. hospitals and medical manufacturers. Thanks to the dedication of thousands of volunteers nationwide, two to three cargo containers of life-saving aid leave Project C.U.R.E.’s warehouses every week. In addition, Project C.U.R.E. sends volunteer medical teams to underserved facilities abroad to provide free care and train local healthcare staff. Today, Project C.U.R.E. is the world’s largest distributor of medical donations to resource-limited communities across the globe, touching the lives of patients, families and children in 130 countries.

Through core programs of disaster relief, medical care, hunger relief, and clean water, OB is dedicated to alleviating human need and suffering in the United States and around the world. Since 1978, Operation Blessing has touched the lives of millions of people in more than 90 countries and territories, including the U.S.

The Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation is an organization that provides millions of dollars for novel Alzheimer’s research all over the world to investigate the latest, most promising research available. Our mission is to understand the causes of Alzheimer’s disease, improve the care of people living with it, and find a cure. A majority of our funding goes to the Fisher Center Lab at The Rockefeller University that was under the direction of the late Nobel laureate Dr. Paul Greengard, which is now under the leadership of Dr. Nathaniel Heintz. The Center has provided researchers around the globe with a conceptual framework for understanding the disease process and continues to be at the forefront of one day finding a cure for Alzheimer’s disease. We also fund research at NYU Langone, where a handful of clinical trials are taking place. The Foundation’s national comprehensive Alzheimer’s Information Program, the heart of which is the Foundation’s website, www.ALZinfo.org continues to spearhead efforts to increase awareness of and education about Alzheimer’s disease to the general public. The website provides in-depth information on the most current research studies, treatments, and disease management approaches. We also publish a magazine (Preserving Your Memory®) that provides readers with information about Alzheimer’s and how to take the necessary steps to prepare adequately if they or a loved one fall victim to the disease. Another facet of our Information Program is the e-newsletter, which contains updates and helpful tips. Our vision is working towards a future where Alzheimer’s is nothing but a memory.
