The Ottawa Hospital Foundation was established on April 1, 2000 as a result of the merger of the foundations of the Civic and General Hospital. We work closely with our partners, including health care professionals, researchers, donors and volunteers, to encourage the community to support The Ottawa Hospital (Civic, General and Riverside campuses). As one of the largest teaching hospitals in Canada, The Ottawa Hospital provides comprehensive, high quality, patient-focused health care services for more than 1.5 million residents of eastern Ontario.

Direct-MS was founded by persons affected by MS for the benefit of persons with MS. We provide information not available at larger MS charities which focus on drug therapies for MS. Lupus is a life altering and potentially life-threatening auto-immune disease for which there is no cure. In an autoimmune disease, the body’s immune system (which normally protects and defends the body against disease and illness) becomes overactive, often attacking healthy tissues of the body. It can affect any organ or system. The resultant inflammation can be destructive as well as debilitating. In Ontario, we have increased the number of support centres and assisted volunteers who have helped many people with lupus share information and education to better manage their disease. Lupus Ontario knows that there are not enough specialized physicians to give adequate care to people living with lupus. To address this, we financially support two fellowships that educate in the optimum treatment of people living with lupus. We continue to drive awareness through advocacy, written articles, media releases, PSAs and our updated website. We support research; RESEARCH BRINGS US HOPE
