Coast Mental Health knows that recovery from mental illness is more than taking pills. Through individualized support and client involvement in goal-setting and care, Coast has successfully helped thousands of people in their recovery. Last year Coast staff and peer support workers reached out to over 3000 clients. We provided supported housing to over 900 people, helped hundreds of people find work and volunteer opportunities, served over 1000 meals each day, and provide such basic human comforts as laundry and shower facilities, and social and recreational activities. All designed to facilitate recovery for those in need. Coast clients form a thriving community of people working each day to overcome illness, adversity and stigma. We have seen many individuals move from unemployment, homelessness, being hungry and alone, to finding jobs, homes, food and a community of people who care. Coast welcomes anyone with a mental illness to participate in our services and programs.

The Alzheimer Society of PEI offers specialized programs and services to support you. - Public Education: Presentations & Workshops - Counselling - First Link - is a program designed to assist individuals living with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, their family and caregivers. Partnering with physicians, health professionals and community we will create a support system for individuals at the point of diagnosis and we will link Islanders to a community of education and services. - Caregiver Support Groups - Operated in 5 areas of the province and facilitated by family caregivers, these groups provide an opportunity to learn more about Alzheimer's disease & other dementias, discuss difficult issues and share strategies for coping. - Resource Centre - Volunteers - Help us to help others! Ian Anderson House, Ontario's first in-resident cancer hospice offers, without charge, quality end-of-life palliative care in a home-like setting to individuals diagnosed with terminal cancer and a limited life expectancy.

Families of SMA Canada is a national registered charity dedicated to finding a treatment or cure for Spinal Muscular Atrophy and support families affected by the disease.

Alberta Diabetes Foundation (formerly AFDR (Alberta Foundation for Diabetes Research) was organized by a group of volunteers, some of whom were parents of Diabetics or in other ways affected by Diabetes. The Alberta Foundation for Diabetes Research was incorporated under the Societies Act on Nov. 4, 1988. Alberta Diabetes Foundation's purpose is to raise funds to support world-leading diabetes research projects. Besides funding diabetes research, Alberta Diabetes Foundation works with the researchers to provide our supporters with up-to-date information about what's happening on the research front. We also strive to create opportunities for interaction with other diabetics. Alberta Diabetes Foundation hosts many promotional events and can organize lab tours of current projects.

Médecins du Monde is an international non-profit humanitarian organization that relies on the voluntary commitment of healthcare and other professionals to bring relief to the world’s most vulnerable populations. MdM’s Canadian delegation was first founded in 1996. Its first actions took place in Haiti. In May 1999, the MdM International Board of Directors officially recognized the Canadian delegation as autonomous, marking the launch of MdM Canada under its founding president, Dr. Réjean Thomas.

The Dave Smith Youth Treatment Centre (DSYTC) came into being, as a result of the efforts of a group of dedicated parents and community leaders, spearheaded by restaurateur and philanthropist Dave Smith. This committed group lobbied tirelessly to secure base operational funding support from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care as well as raise capital funds from the community in order to purchase a building. With minimal fanfare, enthusiastic staff, and high hopes, the DSYTC first opened its doors in March 1993. The Centre began providing assistance to some 120 youth and parents in year one, and today, with much creativity and commitment assists more than 700 people per year.

Founded in 1983 by volunteers in BC, we're a federation of 7 regional chapters and a national office whose sole purpose is to grant these special wishes! Since 1983, we have granted over 3,929 magical wishes to children across Canada, and are part of the largest wish granting organization in the world, with affiliates in 35 countries. Worldwide, we've granted more than 280,000 wishes to date. Our organization does not receive any government funding, and grants wishes purely through community donations. With an increase in wish requests every year - in 2009, we granted 437 wishes to children in communities across Canada, our staff and volunteers are dedicated to creating a world of magic and bringing smiles to the faces of children who, due to their illness, may be missing out on some of the joys of childhood other kids take for granted.

Hospice care is about options - offering dignity, choice, and compassion combined with teamwork, flexibility, care of the whole person, and communication. Serving the communities of Anmore, Belcarra, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody and New Westminster since 1988, our programs provide support services to the terminal ill as well as grief support for their family, friends, and loved ones. Crossroads sees death as a continuum and seeks to cater to the needs of patients and their loved ones upon the initial terminal diagnostic, during end of life preparation stages and to assist families and friends in grief after a loss. Care is provided in patients' homes, at the Crossroads Inlet Centre Hospice, on the Queen's Park Care Centre's hospice ward and in hospital and care facilities throughout the community.

MMI's vision is to care annually for 100 million of the world's needy by the year 2050. MMI is committed to meet the need for medical care among the world's poor with lasting solutions through excellence in medicine, patient care, and health education. We do this by mobilizing volunteers on short-term medical projects and establishing and equipping permanent medical centers. We work alongside national doctors and helpers from the countries we go to, joining the efforts of the local church where possible. This healing ministry strengthens village churches and enhances missions outreach in our participants' home churches.

Jesse's Journey, a registered charity dedicated to funding peer-reviewed research toward effective treatment and ultimate cure of genetic neuromuscular diseases, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in particular. Funding derives from the Jesse Davidson Endowment, which will eventually provide at least one million Canadian dollars per year for research.
