CureSZ Foundation

The CURESZ Foundation was founded in 2016 to bring hope to people suffering from schizophrenia and those who love and care for them. CURESZ was established by Bethany Yeiser and her psychiatrist Henry Nasrallah, MD, and was inspired by Bethany's complete recovery from schizophrenia, after four years of delusions, hallucinations, homelessness and disability. Bethany returned to her normal life and graduated from college with honors, thanks to clozapine, which cured her symptoms when several other medications did not work. Too often, a schizophrenia diagnosis gives rise to despair and hopelessness. What is not widely known and what the CURESZ Foundation intends to promote is both knowledge and empowerment. Knowledge – which includes raising awareness about the latest cutting- edge biological and psychosocial treatments, and empowerment – in the sense of providing patients and their families and friends with tools and resources to improve their lives. CURESZ creates educational materials that inform, encourage and inspire people with schizophrenia on their road to recovery. We also fund research into the causes, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of schizophrenia. The CURESZ Board of Trustees includes eight psychiatrists, two lawyers, a former patient and two family members with an interest in mental health.

Rooms Of Hope

Rooms of Hope is a 501(c) non-profit organization serving 9 counties that make up the San Francisco Bay Area. Rooms of Hope gives back a little bit of control to sick children who often lose their say in daily activities, including going to school or having play dates because of their depressed immune systems and need for medical attention. Usually, they can no longer participate in sports or other extracurricular activities. Daily routines go from being “normal” to now being all about hospital visits or being at home while the rest of world moves forward without them. But we bring something wonderful to look forward to and give each child their voice. This gift goes on well beyond their amazing reveal of their dream space. While at home, this is their place of inspiration, healing and solace.
