The mission of Crime Survivors is to provide hope and healing to victims and survivors of crime through advocacy and the support of resources, information, and empowerment from the critical time after a crime occurs through the challenges and successes of surviving and thriving.
Our primary purpose is to increase public awareness of women’s achievements and their roles in history and to provide positive public images of women and girls. Originally started by the Harbor Area YWCA, our mission is to provide shelter and support to anyone impacted by domestic violence, empowering them to move beyond trauma, towards safety & stability. Established in 1983, we have been serving the community for more than 40 years. Our programs are inclusive and help all survivors build healthy, safe, violence-free lives. We serve Los Angeles County with a Harbor Area/South Bay focus. Most of our clients have low/no incomes. We provide all services in Spanish and English. We work to improve the quality of life for survivors, and to prevent future acts of domestic violence through prevention education.
One SAFE Place provides legal services, safety, and emotional support to intimate partners, children, and seniors affected by domestic violence and sexual assault. Together, we will work toward a future where everyone in our community feels strong, healthy, and safe at home.
Since 1979 Domestic Abuse Project (DAP) has served the Twin Cities' community with innovative and successful programming to end the inter-generational cycle of domestic violence. Araminta Freedom Initiative reduces the threat of child sex trafficking—the buying and selling of minors for the purpose of sexual exploitation—and restores the mind, body and spirit of those who have survived the trauma of modern slavery.A member of the Maryland Human Trafficking Task Force, we develop and implement educational initiatives and local prevention plans with churches, schools and communities, while providing individualized, restorative services to victims of child sex trafficking using trauma-informed, evidenced-based models.
