The mission of AAI is to build hope and empower communities afflicted by armed conflict and severe poverty. We believe that peace, security and respect for human dignity are inseparable. Our goal is to develop programs as sustainable models that can be replicated globally. Our people-to-people initiatives integrate health, education, arts and livelihood as a basis for mediation. By building Hope, we overcome the hatred propagated by terror organizations. The success of these cost-effective models shows that empowering impoverished and conflict-plagued communities strengthens international security, stability and peace.

For over 30 years, Brain Trauma Foundation has been conducting innovative clinical research and developing evidence-based guidelines that improve outcomes for the millions of people who suffer from traumatic brain injuries every year. From concussion to coma, Brain Trauma Foundation's expertise allows us to better educate and train myriad audiences that encounter traumatic brain injuries in situations ranging from the battlefield to an athletic arena to a hospital. Brain Trauma Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit, was founded in 1986 by Dr. Jam Ghajar, MD, PhD, FACS.

The American Chestnut Foundation has one simple goal: to restore the American chestnut to its native forests. Destroyed by an imported blight many consider the worst environmental disaster of the twentieth century, the American chestnut was virtually eliminated from the eastern hardwood forest between 1904 and 1940. With its loss, wildlife populations plummeted; never to return to former levels. With recent developments in genetics, there is promise that this critically important wildlife food source and timber tree will again become part of our natural heritage. To make this possibility a reality, a group of prominent scientists, in 1983, established the non-profit research-oriented American Chestnut Foundation (TACF). The Foundation's mission is simple: to restore the American chestnut as an integral part of the eastern forest ecosystem. TACF is employing traditional plant breeding techniques, backed by advanced research methods, to develop a blight resistant American chestnut tree. TACF is restoring a species - and in the process, creating a template for restoration of other tree and plant species.

We offer Central Americans hope and the opportunity to overcome poverty by promoting democracy and prosperity through community libraries that spark a spirit of discovery and foster citizen participation.

VirginiaFIRST is the Virginia-based affiliate of US FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), a non-profit international educational mentoring organization. VirginiaFIRST promotes FIRST's mission to: * inspire young people to be science and technology leaders by engaging them in exciting team-based, mentor-based programs that build skills in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM); * promote the spirit of creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship; * foster well-rounded life capabilities; * help today's youth acquire the knowledge and skills needed to compete in the technologically-driven global economy; * encourage students (ages 6-18) to pursue studies in the sciences, engineering and technology at the college, graduate and post-graduate levels leading to careers in related technical fields. It is a goal of VirginiaFIRST to make FIRST's programs available to all Virginia youth.

Our mission is to move society to live in ways that protect Earth's environment and its capacity to provide for the needs and aspirations of current and future generations.

Video Volunteers is a social media network that leverages the power of media to expand and accelerate positive social change, empower communities, overcome illiteracy and provide a real platform for voice among marginalized people in the developing world. By developing innovative and sustainable media platforms for production and distribution, focused on the needs and requirements of the poor and voiceless, we empower communities to create and share their own solutions to rights violations.

The Institution's purpose, as conceived by Andrew Carnegie, is to "encourage, in the broadest and most liberal manner, investigation, research, and discovery, and the application of knowledge to the improvement of mankind." The Carnegie Institution is devoted to addressing fundamental questions on the frontiers of biology, earth sciences, and astronomy that its trustees and scientists consider to be among the most significant in science. Its funds are used to support projects at its own research departments and to conduct a program of advanced education at the predoctoral and postdoctoral levels. It also offers programs for elementary school teachers and children in Washington, DC., Baltimore, MD and Pasadena, CA.

Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution conducts independent ocean science, engineering, and education to advance understanding of the ocean and its connections to the Earth system, and communicates that knowledge to inform decision‑making and benefit society. Its work combines research, ship/vehicle operations, technology development, and training to address climate, ecosystem, and ocean‑resource challenges.

The mission of the Amazon Conservation Association is to unite science, innovation, and people to protect the western Amazon – the greatest wild forest on Earth. We envision a thriving Amazon that sustains the full diversity of life. Two decades in, we have protected over 8.15 million acres of rainforest; provided cutting-edge tools to government and forest users to protect their lands; empowered hundreds of indigenous communities to develop forest-friendly livelihoods; and hosted thousands of scientists pioneering innovative research at our three conservation hubs.
