SOS MEDITERRANEE is an international humanitarian and maritime organization dedicated to saving lives at sea founded in 2015 in response to the escalating humanitarian crisis in the Central Mediterranean - one of the world's deadliest migration routes. Our mission is urgent and clear: to conduct life-saving search and rescue operations at sea, providing immediate relief to those in distress and ensuring their safety, health, and protection until they reach a place of safety. Since 2016, reflecting our commitment to humanity and solidarity, we have rescued more than 41,000 people from over 50 countries - more than 10,000 of whom were children.
Siel Bleu's Mission: empowering lives through movement At Siel Bleu, our mission goes beyond simply encouraging physical activity; we believe that movement has the power to transform lives. Through tailored and accessible physical activity programs, we strive to enhance the health, independence, and well-being of individuals, particularly older adults and vulnerable populations. Whether through community-based programs or collaborations with healthcare providers, we are committed to empowering people of all ages to lead healthier, more active lives. We know that the benefits of movement go far beyond physical fitness. Regular exercise can improve mobility, reduce the risk of chronic diseases, boost mental health, and combat isolation. For older adults and those facing physical or cognitive challenges, staying active is essential for maintaining a high quality of life. That's why we design our programs to meet individuals where they are, adapting each session to their abilities and needs. Whether it's through gentle movement, strength-building activities, or social engagement, our goal is to make every person feel capable, supported, and motivated to stay active. Our approach is grounded in inclusivity, which is why we make physical activity accessible to everyone. We understand that barriers to exercise-such as limited mobility, lack of motivation, or social isolation-can make it difficult for some to get started. By creating a safe and welcoming environment, we ensure that every participant can enjoy the benefits of movement, regardless of their starting point. Our programs are designed not just to improve physical health, but also to strengthen mental and emotional well-being, offering a holistic approach that focuses on the whole person. But our impact doesn't stop there. At Siel Bleu, we are also deeply committed to creating a sense of community and social connection. For many individuals, particularly older adults, isolation can be a major challenge. Our programs provide not only the physical benefits of exercise but also the social and emotional support that comes from being part of a group. By fostering meaningful relationships and bringing people together through shared activities, we combat loneliness and help individuals build stronger, more supportive social networks. We also recognize the critical role that caregivers and healthcare professionals play in the well-being of those we serve. Our programs support caregivers by providing them with the tools and knowledge they need to care for others while also taking care of their own health. Through educational resources and hands-on support, we empower caregivers to integrate physical activity into their caregiving routines, improving their own health while enhancing the quality of life for those they care for. The heart of our mission is rooted in collaboration. By working alongside healthcare providers, local community organizations, and international partners, we build networks of support that create lasting change. Together, we strive to improve access to physical activity, reduce healthcare costs, and ensure that all individuals, regardless of age or ability, have the opportunity to live independently and participate fully in society. Siel Bleu currently operates across Europe, with a strong presence in France, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, Germany and Ireland, and we are excited to expand our reach further. We aim to bring our programs to more countries, ensuring that even more people benefit from the power of movement. Our goal is to create a widespread network that promotes active aging and supports individuals in living their lives to the fullest, regardless of their circumstances. At Siel Bleu, we are not just helping people move-we are helping them thrive. Our programs aim to create a world where health, mobility, and community are accessible to everyone. By empowering individuals through movement, we foster healthier, happier lives and build stronger communities where all individuals can contribute to society, regardless of their age or physical abilities. healthcare costs, and ensure that all individuals, regardless of age or ability, have the opportunity to live independently and participate fully in society. VZW Boven De Wolken: So Much More Than Photos When parents lose their baby before, during, or shortly after birth, their world collapses. They must say goodbye to their child before having the chance to truly know them. At the same time, they feel immense pride in their baby and their family. This period becomes an emotional rollercoaster filled with moments of breaking down, crying, daring to smile again, creating, and cherishing memories. Parents often wish to preserve everything forever-with photos of their baby and their new family. These pictures, which they can proudly share with others, help them say goodbye and learn to live with the loss of their child. Photos as Warm Memories VZW Boven De Wolken strives to help bereaved parents carry this heavy burden by offering them a free professional photoshoot of their deceased baby. These photos provide a tangible, beautiful memory of their "star child" and can make a significant difference in the grieving process. The photo session itself becomes a moment of togetherness for the family-a recognition of their baby's existence. This acknowledgment is crucial at the start of the grieving process. Our volunteers undertake this work with heartfelt dedication and deep respect for both the family and the baby. Every photographer is carefully selected and trained, ensuring that each session is conducted warmly and thoughtfully. The photos often play a vital role in the healing process, serving as a tangible, cherished memory of their child. 8 Years and More Than 7,000 Star Children Later Since 2016, Boven De Wolken has been supporting parents in saying goodbye to their star child. Today, we rely on more than 325 volunteers to respond to over 1,200 calls annually. This ensures that every parent of a star child in Belgium has the opportunity to have a free photoshoot of their deceased baby. Our services are also available for children up to the age of 12. In 2024, Boven De Wolken photographed its 7,000th star child. That's 7,000 moments of sorrow and farewell, 7,000 expressions of love and remembrance, and 7,000 journeys made by volunteer professional photographers. Over eight years, Boven De Wolken has made a difference for more than 7,000 families during one of the hardest moments of their lives. A heartbreaking yet deeply moving reality. Thanks to donations, Boven De Wolken can continue offering this invaluable support to bereaved parents. More Than Just Photos Beyond photography, Boven De Wolken aims to make a societal impact by raising awareness about grief and perinatal loss. The support of a parent's surrounding community can make an enormous difference. For this reason, training and sensitization for doctors, caregivers, policymakers, and others are essential. Bringing the topics of perinatal loss, grief, and death out of the shadows, giving them a place in broader society, and making them discussable can only be achieved by reaching the wider public. This is why we continue to address these themes through social media, press coverage, and public presentations at schools, associations, service clubs, and more.
The organisation reflects its members' shared concern for the future of humanity and the planet. The association sees its task as acting as an independent, global catalyst for change. The objectives of the Association are therefore: to identify the key issues that are critical to the future of humanity; to evaluate alternative scenarios for the future and assess risks, choices and opportunities through integrated and forward-looking analyses; to develop and propose practical solutions to the identified challenges; to communicate new insights and knowledge from these analyses to decision-makers in the public and private sectors, as well as to the wider public; to stimulate public debate and effective action to improve the prospects for the future of humanity and the planet. The Association's activities are guided by the following three complementary principles: 1. the need to adopt a global, systems-oriented perspective in analysing the problems facing the modern world, recognising that the increasing interdependence of nations and the globalisation of previously local problems create challenges that are beyond the capacity of individual countries. 2. the need for a comprehensive, holistic approach in order to gain a deeper understanding of the complexity and interconnectedness of both current problems and practical solutions, in political, social, economic, technological, environmental, psychological and cultural terms, which the association refers to as the 'world problematique'. 3. the need to emphasise transdisciplinary and long-term perspectives, which are all too often neglected by governments and other decision-makers, and to focus on those decisions, strategies and measures that will determine the fate of present and future generations. The aim is to arouse public interest and provide responsible decision-makers with a solid basis for formulating and implementing future-oriented measures. The association does not pursue any commercial purposes and does not seek to make a profit.
Every day, lives are changed by a single, selfless act - the gift of organ donation. Among those waiting for transplants are 2 groups of people: those who die waiting and those who receive the gift of life. Our work raises awareness of the urgent need for organ and tissue donors while helping recipients who have overcome the impossible to live life to the fullest. These individuals have faced life's greatest challenges; they are advocates for the cause but need resources, education and community. Transplant recipients have a unique opportunity to advocate for organ donation and raise awareness. Physical activity plays a crucial role in the recovery and long-term health of recipients. When recipients compete in world events, they demonstrate to the world what can be achieved through the gift of organ donation. Additionally, our programs provide recipients with community, tools, and resources to address the many challenges they face, leading to an increased quality of life. The WTGF promotes amateur sport amongst recipients, living donors and donor families; promoting the study of transplantation; educating the public and raising awareness of the world shortage of donor organs; sharing new knowledge from biological/clinical studies; promotion of mental and moral improvement for recipients, living donors and donor families; fostering international friendship and relations.
