Founded in 1985, Habitat for Humanity Canada (HFHC) is a national, non-profit organization working towards a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live. With the help of over 50,000 volunteers every year and 69 affiliate organizations from coast to coast, their mission is to mobilize volunteers and community partners in building affordable housing and promoting homeownership as a means to break the cycle of poverty in Canada and around the world.

The AIDS Network is a registered charitable organization that offers services and education to people living in the communities of Hamilton, Halton, Haldimand, Norfolk and Brant. Established in 1986, we are the only organization in the region that offers services and support to men, women, children and families who have been affected by HIV/AIDS.

Lanark County Interval House is a shelter and support network for women and their children who have experienced abuse. We work with women & children across Lanark County Ontario including the towns of Carleton Place, Smiths Falls, Perth, Almonte and all of the rural areas in between. Our emergency shelter accommodates 15 women and children at one time. Here we provide a 24-hr help/crisis line, safety, counselling for both women and children and advocacy to help women navigate systems on her journey to a successful violent-free life. Our Outreach programs provide counselling, advocacy and diverse support groups for women and children affected by abuse and sexual violence. Our public education program provides workshops, presentations, and resources to our communities and schools about violence against women, healthy relationships, and gender roles and stereotypes. We work towards ending the cycle of violence against women and children.

Since 1974 we have developed into a community leader in the pursuit to eliminate sexual violence against women and creating safe communities for all. Through education, empowerment and respect the ORCC serves to rally voices in the community around the issues of sexual violence and feminism. This may include: sexual assault, rape, childhood sexual assault/abuse, incest, sexual harassment and ritualized abuse. We also provide services to family, friends, and partners/spouses of women who have been sexually assaulted. We are experiencing an epidemic of violence against women in our community, in our country and our global village – let’s work together from global to local to create safe spaces for all free of sexual violence.

We accept requests for shelter at all times. We offer counselling and support as well as follow-up services for each resident. Thanks to our telephone support services and outreach program, we also provide assistance to women who do not require shelter. Our personnel speak English, French and Spanish; in addition, interpreters are called in whenever needed. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Clarington provides top quality volunteer based mentoring programs to the children of Clarington. Our agency has been making a difference in the lives of children living throughout the municipality of Clarington for over three decades. Big Brothers Big Sisters serves over 450 children through innovative programs such as 1:1 matches, In-School Mentoring, Big Bunch Group Mentoring, Couples Matches and the Champions of Change Leadership Development Program.

As Canada’s largest youth shelter, Covenant House Toronto opens doors of opportunity and hope to homeless youth. More than just a place to stay, we provide 24/7 crisis care and have the widest range of services under one roof, including education, counselling, health care and employment assistance. Kids come to Covenant House from every part of Canada and from every social and economic background. Most are fleeing or have been forced out of homes where there is abuse and neglect. The street is a dangerous and often deadly place for kids. Our doors are open to youth 16 to 24 regardless of race, creed, gender or the circumstances that have brought them to our threshold. Covenant House has helped thousands of young people move from a life on the streets to a life with a future. On average, about 4,000 young people turn to us annually.

The mission of the Barrie Food Bank is to provide temporary food relief to individuals and families of our community who are in need, and to serve as a resource to encourage and guide them along the road to self-sufficiency.

FoodShare develops innovative programs and education to improve access to affordable and healthy food, reaching over 159,000 children and adults every single month. We take a long-term approach to hunger and food issues, working to empower individuals, families and communities through food-based initiatives “from field to table.” FoodShare mentors communities in drawing on their own strengths to adapt and grow tools and scalable solutions so that our work is leveraged exponentially. Our programs include Student Nutrition, Field to Table Schools, the Good Food Café (healthy cafeteria), Focus on Food youth internships, the Good Food Box, Mobile and Good Food Markets, Fresh Produce for Schools, School Grown, Community Kitchens, the FoodLink Hotline, Power Soups, Community Gardening, Composting, Beekeeping, School Grown, and Urban Agriculture.

Halton Women's Place is a non-profit organization devoted to assisting abused women and their dependent children. We offer the following services at no charge: - Safe shelter that is strictly non-judgemental and supportive. - Comprehensive, non-residential and residential crisis counselling services to women and their dependent children. - 24-hour telephone counselling for women who just need to talk. - Referrals to other services as necessary. - Meals and emergency clothing. - Therapeutic and recreational activities to meet the needs of both pre-school and school-aged children.
