Saide is an education support organization founded on social justice and open learning principles with the vision of a society where all people value, have access to and succeed in lifelong education and training. Saide's mission is to partner with public and private institutions, governments, civil society, funders and other education stakeholders in Africa and beyond; to Support diverse modes of provision in a constantly changing and technology-driven world including in-person, distance, remote, hybrid, and blended approaches; From early childhood, primary and secondary school, to post-secondary education and training. At Saide, we believe that to be truly transformative and become a foundation for lifelong success, education must be guided by the following principles. Openness: We advocate for open education including sharing knowledge freely, breaking down barriers to educational resources, and encouraging lifelong, self-directed learning. Social justice: We champion fair access to education, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their gender, race, culture or socio-economic background, has equal opportunities to learn and succeed. Diversity and Inclusion: Transformative education embraces diverse voices and perspectives, fosters a learning environment where everyone feels respected, valued, and empowered to participate. Learner-centred approaches: We champion learner-centred approaches that tailor education to the needs, interests, and strengths of students, allowing them more agency in their learning journeys. Our mission is to provide care and support services that empower persons with disabilities. To work in partnership with persons with disabilities to provide, without regard for gender, race, caste or creed, residential accommodation and other community services that promote independent living and the attainment of personal aspirations. To initiate projects that address the social and economic inequalities suffered by people with disabilities, thereby contributing to the alleviation of poverty. To operate in compliance with legislation and regulations of established institutions. To conform with the UN Convention of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, thereby achieving our vision of a society where persons with disabilities have equal opportunities.

The school opened in May 1981. Libra Primary was and is noted for its sporting and academic achievements. Former pupils of Libra have achieved notable successes in various fields and careers. We hope that the present and future learners will carry on and surpass the excellent honors achieved by our previous learners. To allow each child to become the unique, talented person they were meant to be. In so doing, we wish to share our experience and knowledge with other professionals in the field by way of training and participating in research.

Sensitizing about drugs and alcohol, assisting out with kiddos with school homework, teaching about spiritual principles and the defects of character, health education, the therapy of one child helping one another, praying to God as we understood him, the importance of visualizing your future and walking towards it together as a team, understanding the components of leadership from a young age. - To provide young children with a safe and nurturing environment where they can learn and develop important skills that will prepare them for future academic activities in a fun and engaging way.

To support its vision, the GEPYIH provides enabling opportunities and mentorship for youth progression, sustainability and prosperity in an efficient and professional manner: -The skills levels of youth and the community are raised; - There is a healthy balance between supply and demand in the labour market; - There are diverse, flexible routes available and systems for initial and in-service education and training; - A variety of career paths is available; - The quality of training provided is continuously improved; - Internal and external communication is effective in order to advance national human resource and skills development; - Create awareness through dialogue and interaction for collaboration with community and stakeholders.

KNE Sustainability Institute is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting global sustainable thinking and action. Our goal is to accelerate the dissemination of sustainability knowledge through modern media and e-learning. We are funded through partnerships, grants, and collaborations with organizations committed to sustainability and regeneration. Our key initiatives include the Global Goals Compass, a tool that provides guidance on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and ReGen.rocks, an interactive social learning platform designed to educate young people on sustainability, connect them in a social network and match them with regenerative projects. Additionally, we connect researchers in the field of sustainable development, create innovative e-learning programs, and support companies and organizations in effectively implementing sustainability and regeneration strategies. Our mission is to promote a better quality of life by offering psychosocial support to children infected and affected by HIV/AIDS, including those who are orphaned or made vulnerable by poverty, neglect, or abuse in the community of Refilwe, Tshwane.

Background & Context: The Johannesburg Children's Home (JCH), established in 1892, is Gauteng's oldest residential care facility for children. For 133 years, we have provided a safe, nurturing environment for children aged 3 to 21 who have experienced severe trauma-ranging from abuse to abandonment. Our holistic care model includes education, emotional support, and therapeutic services within a cluster-style village environment. Motivation for Innovation: Healing the emotional wounds of 64 traumatised children and preparing them for independent life is a significant and complex challenge. Many arrive at JCH with disrupted schooling, developmental delays, and deeply rooted trauma. Our goal is to ensure that when they leave our care, they do so as resilient, capable individuals with the emotional, academic, and practical skills to thrive in society. To achieve this, traditional models of care and education are no longer sufficient-we must innovate. Why This Innovation Is Needed: Youth aging out of residential care often struggle with employability, self-esteem, and independence. Many lack access to targeted psychosocial support and real-world learning pathways. The need for structured life skills, mentorship, digital readiness, and career alignment is critical to break the cycle of vulnerability. What Makes Our Approach Different: Therapeutic Life Readiness Programme: We integrate emotional healing with practical skill development through trauma-informed life skills training, digital literacy, and mentorship. Tailored Pathways for Youth (15-21): Each young person receives an individualised development plan that includes tutoring, vocational exposure, and transition support. Multi-disciplinary Model: Social workers, youth workers, educators, and therapists collaborate to offer consistent, wraparound support. Safe-to-Independent Pipeline: We are building structured pathways from residential care to semi-independent living and employment, with mentorship and aftercare. Experience in the Field: JCH brings over 133 years of experience in residential childcare and child protection. Over the past decade, we have significantly advanced our psychosocial and education support offerings. We have strong partnerships with schools, training providers, and community organisations, ensuring a well-integrated support network for our youth. Proposed Location for Implementation: The innovation will be implemented at The Johannesburg Children's Home (JCH), located in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa. As a long-established residential facility, JCH provides a stable and secure environment for vulnerable children and youth in the heart of the city. Targeted Demographics: The programme specifically targets youth aged 15 to 21 years, currently in care at JCH or transitioning out of care. These young people have experienced severe trauma-such as abuse, neglect, and abandonment-and require structured support to develop life, educational, and employment skills. Youth Pathway: Our innovation directly engages young people through a Therapeutic Life Readiness Programme designed to support them in three core areas: 1. Emotional resilience: Trauma-informed therapy and peer support groups. 2. Educational recovery and upskilling: Individualised tutoring, digital literacy training, and vocational guidance. 3. Transition to independence: Mentorship, job shadowing, internships, and preparation for semi-independent living. Each youth follows a personalised development plan supported by our multidisciplinary team, ensuring that their voices, goals, and growth are central to the process. Relationship with the Community: JCH has deep, long-standing ties with the Johannesburg community, including schools, mental health professionals, NGOs, and local businesses. We have served hundreds of children from surrounding communities over the past 133 years and work closely with government departments, families, and community partners to ensure holistic, culturally sensitive care. Our approach is grounded in trust, transparency, and consistent engagement with stakeholders. Experience in Continuous Learning, Innovation, Sustainable Impact, and Systemic Change: Continuous Learning: Our team undergoes regular training in trauma-informed care, child development, and youth empowerment. We constantly evaluate our programmes to ensure relevance and effectiveness. Innovation: We are evolving from traditional residential care to a proactive youth development model that integrates mental health, education, and employability-tailored for post-care independence. Sustainable Impact: By equipping youth with essential life and vocational skills, we reduce their long-term reliance on social systems and increase their ability to contribute meaningfully to society. Systemic Change: Our work challenges and redefines how child and youth care is delivered in South Africa, shifting from custodial care to development-focused models that empower youth as agents of their own future.
