Wish Upon a Teen is dedicated to providing resources, time and opportunities to teenagers with severe life limiting medical conditions. Through creative, social, and educational opportunities, these teens will rediscover and rebuild their self-esteem as they continue their journey to adulthood. Wish Upon a Teen is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, established in May of 2011, to help teenagers who have developmental or medical conditions. Through creative and interactive social and educational events, these teens will rediscover and rebuild their self-esteem as they continue their journey to adulthood. Wish Upon a Teen's founder, Michelle Soto, has extensive experience caring for children and teenagers,through this experience she has learned that teens are frequently left behind. In effect, the combination of normal teenage stressors plus the impact of learning disabilities and, or life limiting illnesses can make the normal transition to adulthood difficult. Wish Upon a Teen continuously provides ongoing support to an age-group not frequently targeted by those in the charitable community. Wish Upon a Teen provides support to teenagers throughout the country.

Through performance we strive to inspire and uplift those who may be suffering due to illness, separation, abuse, or poverty. Through our outreach programs we create opportunities for youth to experience the arts on a consistent basis that otherwise would not have the chance due to financial burdens. We provide meaningful volunteer opportunities to youth who have had the experience within the arts and give them the capacity to share that with others.

Our mission is to provide services that foster safety and healing for those affected by child abuse and domestic violence; and to prevent abuse through education, advocacy, and systemic change.

Donating to Kidsave gives older, forgotten orphans and foster kids a chance at finding a family. These kids are often hidden from view with little or no opportunity to meet people who might adopt or mentor them. Thanks to George and Kathryn Hicker every unrestricted gift – whether it’s a monthly sponsorship, tribute ad or straight donation will be matched up to $100,000. Kidsave advocates for permanent, safe and stable families for all children and gives kids growing up in foster care and orphanages summer or weekend visits with host families who get to know the child and team with Kidsave to help that child find a family. When people meet these remarkable children the vast majority of children are adopted or connected with a committed mentor.

Mission: Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness worldwide and to making adequate, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action. Part of a justice-centered movement, we advocate to change inequitable policies, practices, and institutions that perpetuate hunger and poverty. Together, we ensure communities across our state can access the nutritious food they want and need to thrive.

One of Chicago’s largest and longest-operating food pantries, Nourishing Hope, formerly Lakeview Pantry, is a dynamic social services organization providing food, mental wellness counseling and other social services, such as job and housing assistance, to our Chicago neighbors in need. The mission of the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina is: No One Goes Hungry in Central & Eastern North Carolina. Established in 1980, the Food Bank is a nonprofit organization that has provided food for people at risk of hunger in 34 counties for over 35 years. The Food Bank serves a network of more than 800 partner agencies such as soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, and programs for children and adults through distribution centers in Durham, Greenville, New Bern, Raleigh, the Sandhills (Southern Pines) and Wilmington. Sadly, food insecurity remains a serious problem in central and eastern North Carolina. In these counties, more than 636,920 people struggle to access nutritious and adequate amounts of food necessary for a healthy life.
