Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles

Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles is an extended family of compassionate social services that enriches the community and improves the lives of countless men, women and children of all religions, ethnicities and ages. For more than 150 years, JFS has counseled families, fed the hungry, sheltered the homeless and protected the vulnerable. As Los Angeles’ oldest and most dynamic charitable organization, JFS is a trusted source of care and support, meeting the diverse and changing needs of a diverse and changing city. As the leading Jewish social services agency in Los Angeles, Jewish Family Service LA is a trusted and critical source of support for the Jewish community. But our work does not stop there. Jewish values require – and the actions of JFSLA demonstrate – our commitment to serving everyone in the Los Angeles community, of all backgrounds and identities. The Jewish tradition teaches us to honor the dignity of every individual, to extend our practice of service and loving kindness for all, and to do our part to help heal the world. Every day, Jewish Family Service LA operates according to these values. It is clear in every service and program we offer for the people of Los Angeles. Rooted in history and tradition, we strive to build an inclusive, compassionate, and just society for all.

French Camp Academy

French Camp Academy is an interdenominational Christian boarding school for deserving young people founded in 1855. Long before public schools, a group of Scotch-Irish Christians established a school at French Camp on the Natchez Trace. Through God's grace and the support of dedicated Christians of all denominations, the school has continued without interruption for over 100 years. In 1950, French Camp Academy was reorganized and put under the ownership and operation of an incorporated Board of Trustees. It was also given a new purpose-to providing a Christian school-home for children with family problems not of their own making. By and large, French Camp Academy takes in young people who, for one reason or another, cannot or will not stay at home. On a beautiful 1,200-acre campus, French Camp Academy provides a stable home environment where children can know they are loved and accepted. FCA's educational program is fully accredited for grades 9-12, and has a non-sectarian Christian emphasis. The French Camp Mission Statement states: French Camp Academy strives to provide young people with the confronting, compassionate, non-compromising love of our Lord, Jesus Christ in a Christian School-Home; integrating faith and learning by encouraging everyone, as we work and worship together "to love God with all our hearts . . . and our neighbors as ourselves."

The Guthy-Jackson Research Foundation

The Guthy-Jackson Charitable Foundation (GJCF) has created the new public entity named The Guthy-Jackson Research Foundation, Inc. (GJRFI), a nonprofit public benefit corporation. While GJCF remains a private charitable foundation, the public GJRFI expands avenues for funding participation by allowing more corporations and organizations to donate to NMO research.  All financial donations are directed to The Guthy-Jackson Research Foundation, Inc.  This includes donations from public, private and government organizations, as well as donations from fundraising events, families, friends and individuals like you. While all donations are now directed to GJRFI, our focus remains the same: funding research to find a cure for NMO. As always, 100 percent of all donations are appropriated directly to NMO research.

Hope for Homeless Youth

Our objective is to reach out to the homeless, run away youth of the inner city and the low income community.  Our program is structured to incorporate the meeting of physical and emotional needs of the youth and hurting people we seek out on the street.  For their physical needs we provide nutrition, food, hygiene and emergency shelter.  Referrals are also given if we are unable to house such individuals.    Partnering with this we provide personal counseling to address the root cause of their problems.  We help hurting individuals using drugs or alcohol to a more positive direction such as reconciliation with their families or inter a rehabilitation program or emergency shelter.  Counseling is also applied to help ensure successful completion of a drug or alcohol program.
