Established in 1985, The ALS Association is dedicated to leading the fight to treat and cure ALS through global research and nationwide advocacy while also empowering people with Lou Gehrig's Disease and their families to live fuller lives by providing them with compassionate care and support. The Association builds hope and enhances the quality of life while aggressively searching for new treatments and a cure, through global research, providing assistance for people with ALS through a nationwide network of chapters, coordinating multidisciplinary care through certified clinical care centers, and fostering government partnerships.

Advocates for Children and Families, Inc. (ACF) was founded in 1992 to provide ethical adoption services to children and families. Throughout our 30 years of operation there have been many changes in legislation and advances in the evidence-based social sciences related to adoption, that have influenced our model of practice. One aspect of our work that has never changed is ACF's child-centered approach of prioritizing the well-being of children. Our mission is to promote and assist in the formation of stable families. The well-being of children is our priority. We believe every child deserves a permanent home in a safe, nurturing environment.  Our team is comprised of attorneys, licensed mental health professionals, and support staff who are specially trained and continually engaged in advancements within the field of child welfare and adoption. ACF's commitment to advocating for children and families has resulted in over 1,026 children finding stability and permanency within a nurturing family. Chartered in 1934, the Animal Defense League of Texas (ADL) is the oldest no-kill shelter for abandoned, abused, or neglected dogs and cats in South Central Texas. Through the operation of two facilities, a centrally located 12-acre campus and the city-owned Paul Jolly Center for Adoptions, ADL saves the lives of vulnerable animals primarily originating from the most poverty-stricken communities in San Antonio. A full veterinary hospital housed on the main campus provides spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, and microchipping for all pets in ADL’s care. In addition, ADL performs specialized surgeries for animals with complex medical conditions and is the first organization to provide no-cost mobile wellness clinics to historically underserved areas. ADL’s partnership with Animal Care Services (ACS) is instrumental in helping the City of San Antonio back to achieving a “No-Kill” status.

The Association for the Recovery of Children [ARC] is a non-profit, under-the-radar organization comprised of former intelligence officers and special operators who rescue missing, abducted, and exploited American children in domestic and foreign locations.

Construction Sport is built to provide sporting opportunities for construction workers to enjoy themselves, in doing so this allows us to let off steam in a positive environment. Within the Construction industry physical health and safety has been prioritised, the protocols that have been introduced have been made significant improvements, the statistics prove this, on-site fatalities have dropped significantly over the past decades, but that’s just half the battle. Construction Sport has been launched to give the Construction workforce the opportunity of much needed downtime, away from the tools, away from laptops, away from the stresses of day to day life. By doing this we create opportunities for people to enjoy themselves, let their hair down and address their mental health. By building teams, we save lives.

Suicide is everyone's business. MATES is a charity established in 2008 to reduce the high level of suicide among Australian construction workers. MATES provides suicide prevention through community development programs on sites, and by supporting workers in need through case management and a 24/7 help line. We serve the construction industry in Queensland and Northern Territory, New South Wales, South Australia and Western Australia, the Energy industry in Queensland and New South Wales, and nationally to the Mining industry. MATES was established in response to a major report on suicide (the ‘AISRAP Report’) within the Queensland Commercial Building and Construction Industry. This report found that suicide rates in the industry were higher than the Australian average for men, and that youth suicide within the industry could be as much as 2.38 times more common than among other young Australian men. The MATES program is based on the simple idea that suicide is everyone’s business. If the building and construction industry in Australia is to improve the mental health and well-being of workers and reduce suicide, then it cannot be left to mental health professionals: everyone in the industry must play their part. Working for the construction industry in general, MATES is independent of employers and unions and never works directly for an employer. Programs are delivered across the industry regardless of employer or union affiliation.

Our mission is to provide and disseminate information and resources for suicide prevention and mental health promotion in construction with the goal of creating a zero suicide industry.

As a charity, Mates in Mind aims to provide clear information to employers about the available support and guidance on mental health and wellbeing, and how they can address this within their organisations.
